Seven years after completing an IDF combat course, the director returns to the place where she first fell in love with a woman – her commander. Over the course of 66 days and nights, the film follows the girls in one of the most rigorous combat courses and reveals the mechanism that enables the transformation of 18-year-old girls into fierce soldiers. While during the daytime the women adopt male conventions and martial codes, at night a world of femininity lies behind their role playing. Through an intimate relationship that develops between the director and one of the women, questions of identity formation, sexuality, and femininity arise. Growing and escalating along with the course, the relationship charges other relationships between the soldiers and allows an alternative gaze into the experiences that these young women undergo within the world of the Israeli army. |
